One of the "8 Movies to Die For" series from Horrorfest. (Not sure which year, I'm guessing this is the new batch.)
This is an indy, so I'll cut it a bit more slack.
Lake Dead is about three sisters who inherit a hotel from their grandfather and plan to visit the property despite their father's objections. Upon their arrival they realize that their dad was right.
This is a different type of horror in that it throws certain standards away. For example, nobody is sneaking around killing people. They're pretty much right up front about the killing. Also, the killers aren't unstoppable killing machines or anything supernatural. They can be killed like anyone else.
The killing is pretty standard, but there are other themes here that might be very offensive to some. For example, the killers rape at least one of the girls and that's not the worst theme in the movie...
This isn't the best of the series that I've seen so far, but it's also not the worst. Still, this is for horror fans only, particularly those who enjoy slasher films.
6 out of 10 (remember, this is an indy film scale, which takes into account less experience, smaller bugets, worse actors, etc.)
