This is the monster moving between the buildings. Not enough detail to make it out.
I guess the battle lasts long enough to get some tanks into the city...
This scene shows the tilted building at rest, not falling. Engineers... do they build buuildings strong enough to handle that angle of sideways shear (sheer?)?
This was the only scene in the trailer that got just a single frame, too quick to see unless you view the trailer frame by frame, like I did. What is it?
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
It looks like some, I dunno, thing that's dragging someone along at enough of a height just so their feet scrape the ground.
& the tank thing kinda rules out Cthulu for me. It just doesn't seem right even to attempt to fight a god w\ big bullets.
As for the buildings being bent...
Seems that things that are rigid, like glass windows, would shatter when their surrounding frames got warped. As for the actual structures, there's all sorts of shit you can do to steel to make it flexible or elastic (particularly for a metal). But, I ain't an architect & I got no idea what exactly goes into modern steel.

They've managed to keep that script under wraps pretty well.

First off, buildings that size don't 'lean'. They are designed to sway but not much else.
My theory, it's a swarm. You can hear an insect buzzing about 3/4 in the trailer. Also there is a sort of quarantine field and a guy is talking about his girlfriend dying. I think she was infected and the soldier wanted to leave her behind. The large monster is either the queen or a compilation of the swarm acting as one. It also looks like there's a bunch of shit flying around in front of the monster. It would play well with the camcorder point of view.
I just found this little clip of the monster moving...
Looks Godzilla-esque, to me...
He did say he got the idea while buying a Godzilla toy for his kid.

I'm thinking you may be right, and to be honest, it doesn't push my buttons.
The insect thing has been done to death. I want a giant monster movie again.
The evidence does seem to show that while the giant monster might not be insect related, there are insects. -Look at the last photo Gordo posted.
-Watch the trailer when the three people are behind the sheet. I only watched it once, but I thought something there looked odd...
-The subway part in the trailer seems to indicate that the humans are underground, but running from something that made an insect like noise.

What do you see in this image?
I see three people running. All are hunched over.
Two are leaning on each other in the foreground. The one on the left has shorts on and might be barefoot, the one on the right has pants. We see their backs.
The person ahead of them might be barefoot, and has a bare right arm, and is running to the right.
Due the shadow and the broken building, I'd say they're allgoing to a hole that was torn in the building.
I'm thinking this could be a Godzilla/Aliens hybrid.
I'm thinking the alleged smaller beasties are to help ensure that the movie isn't just this sort of thing.

If they do a swarm thing (like they cheaped out on w\ Galactus), I'll be pissed.
