Desperado - At 'Dem Flicks with Malcolm

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I would've reviewed "El Mariachi" as well, but it seems the director's commentary was stuck permanently in the "on" position & I had no intention of listening to Robert Rodriguez wax poetic about how he made a flick for $10K.

Synopsis :
Some gun-toting musicians decide to take on a drug dealer in order to pay him back for killing the lead guitarist's chick.

Review :
Not exactly heavy on thought, though there's a couple places that require at least a minimum IQ so as not to be shocked by some minor plot twist.

Antonio Banderas gets to look & act bad-ass for the entire film. Plenty of explosions, gun fights, violence, blood, etc. Since Rob did much of the camera operating, the editing, the directing, & the writing himself, shit seems more coherent (as opposed to instructing people how to shoot a script, he got to shoot his script himself) than a typical action flick. However, that's really all this is.

Verdict : 6 of 10. Renter. Mindless entertainment.

Tennis shoes
Hiking boots
Flip flops (at the beach condo)
It's not me, it's someone else.

A proper review of this movie is:

"Robert Rodriguez kicks ass cuz he got Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. Salma naked. "
It's not me, it's someone else.

I was the first to think of Salma Hayek naked!

Uh... when did she get naked anyway? I don't remember any actual on-screen nudity on her part.

Were you high during the sex scene right in the middle of the film?

In my defense I imagined that he had a vagina.

I stand corrected.

But wasn't it a body double? (Unlike Frida and Ask the Dusk)

I checked and she implies that it was really her here. I don't believe her though. She's a liar. A dirty dirty lying tramp who can't be trusted. A nasty dirty liar who needs a good spanking!

Comparing pics... oh what I do for research... they look like hers.

She was real in that movie, and used a body double in parts of Frida, but not most of it.
