A huge loss. Probably would be my "exhibit A" when discussing actors who should be household names. Everyone knows him, but his name would probably be unfamiliar. I never saw him give less than a stellar performance.
The world knows him as Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park, but he was in a thousand other things.
I'd like to use this opportunity to remind everyone of Dead Calm (1989) which was just him and the debuting duo of Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane (another insanely underrated actor). Absolutely in my list of perfect films. 100% carried by the performances of its stars.
