Iran was threatening the same tolls. I'd bet Trump was making the threat as a fuck you to them and all the Euro countries who didn't help.

I remember the straight being open, but I wouldn't say things were fine.
I also remember 30-40K (and climbing) people massacred. If the world's leaders actually gave two shits about their fellow human beings no country would have sat on their hands.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not giving Trump ANY credit for "doing the right thing". He lost that argument the second he started having any talks that left the current regime in charge.
