I will be on as well.
Rust - A thread for dying
FYI, if you see "Premium" servers soon, this is a new anti-cheat tactic being used. You won't be able to play on them unless you have $15 worth of stuff purchased on your account. Right now that apparently doesn't include DLCs, but they might be changing that. It definitely does not include the base game.
Apparently, the Facepunch team has found that most cheaters have less than $15 in purchases, and most non-cheaters are above that. The claim is that this is really hard to spoof, and cheaters get banned a ton, so constantly buying additional stuff can add up and be a negative, and thus, not worth it to them.
This will be interesting to see how it works out.

The premium server test to stop cheating is being called a success so far.
4x fewer cheat reports on those servers.
If this continues working I expect you'll see this become an industry standard.

Facepunch is continuing to report success with their anti-cheating tactics.

As someone in the comments said, "Rust is Rust, but will never again be Rust."
The game is doing better than ever, but has completely changed from the original vision. It's been completely pussified, monetized, and is no longer about survival.
Shadowfrax, basically the voice of Rust news, does a really good video discussing these things.

Re: Rust - A thread for dying
I was just thought about logging in the other day to see what my new race/sex was.
I kinda want to see the apartment buildings.
I reckon Rust has been ruined a few times along the way.

Re: Rust - A thread for dying
I will never begrudge them for trying to make money, but Rust reminds me a lot of UO now.
It was awesome in the beginning, but the devs had to alter the game because of ________. Now it's still cool, but that X factor that made it perfect is gone.
I'm not in my prime, so I'm not looking for fast paced action anymore. I want to explore and build. I want more survival, less Fortnite. Unfortunately, the core gameplay has moved away from that.
