If you don't have your Apple branded device and Starbucks coffee logo both clearly visible, do you even have any worth?

No argument, but why are you paying so much for the coffee when they weren't making it right in the first place? And now they're saying, "Do it yourself."TheCatt wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 9:03 amOTOH, customers get what they want more easily, imho.Leisher wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 8:55 am Self-serve station returning.
That $9 coffee just got more unjustified.

Listen, no other coffee place makes iced tea properly like Starbucks does.

Closing hundreds of stores during effort to reverse dropping sales.
In all the things they list they're doing to win back customers, guess what isn't on that list...And customers have balked at the chain’s prices. More than 70% of people blamed higher prices for why they planned to visit Starbucks less over the next 12 months, a recent UBS survey of 1,600 consumers found.

They're in Washington, so I don't see this ending well for Starbucks even if the case wasn't so obviously retaliation.
Although, they're not in Washington for long...

Re: Starbucks
Two things:
1. This guy is a fucking moron for taking this approach during an affordability crisis that's been going on since 2020. The consumer market is not open to luxuries at the moment and $9 coffee is one. Starbucks would see more foot traffic if this asshat had acknowledged that most people are struggling, and announced a massive price drop across the board. Maybe $5 coffee would bring back some of the customers they've alienated over the past several years.
2. If you're spending $9 on a cup of coffee and are struggling, you're the problem.

There's a story out there about Larry Bird when he was with the Dream Team (so around 1992). They were in Mexico for an exhibition or something and at a resort bar. Larry ordered a beer and was told the price in pesos, which he then asked what it converted to in U.S. dollars. It was $7, and Larry passed saying, "You can keep your $7 beer."
If all Americans could act like that, a whole bunch of shit in this country would be dramatically different.

The Kirk meme is even more appropriate because of how people think AI works. They think, "This is like Star Trek", the reality is we're still at Scotty needing to type on a keyboard.
