Brooks Koepka is the first LIV golfer to head back to the PGA.

He cites personal reasons, and it's something I've never heard anyone discuss. These are mostly Americans and LIV has them playing away from the U.S. for a majority of their tournaments I believe. Got to be tough for golfers with younger families...despite the 9 figure paycheck...

I've heard the tours are no closer to merging, so it'll be interesting if this continues to happen. I expect once the 5 year exemptions start to run out for other big names, which would mean they cannot come back to play in majors, others will also walk away. You don't get noticed, get lucrative sponsorships, and get discussed with "the best" if you're not playing in the tournaments people actually watch.

Rory shits on LIV golfers.
"It's not as if they made any huge signings this year, is it?" McIlroy told The Telegraph of London on Thursday. "They haven't signed anyone who moves the needle, and I don't think they will. I mean, they could re-sign Bryson for hundreds of millions of dollars, but even if they do, it doesn't change their product, does it? They'll just be paying for the exact same thing."
The business side of this is interesting. The Saudis have spend $6B on LIV golf so far, and haven't made anything close to that back. This was meant to bring goodwill to Saudi Arabia, but the backlash has been pretty strong. Nobody is attending their events and fewer are watching them on TV. Attempts to consolidate have failed and are now bleaker with the current PGA Tour commish leaving. How long do they continue pumping money into a loser?

This is just disgusting sexism. It's obvious when Tiger drives he uses his Asian heritage...

This is pretty cool. The concession losses are not a concern thanks to their rich members. Ditto for how the tournament can be aired with only 4 minutes of ads an hour.

Non-golf people probably don't understand that this is a dream trip for golfers, and many plan vacations around it. Tickets are hard to get.

Tournament Rounds (Thu-Sun): $160 per day
Very reasonable ticket prices too, considering the demand.

PGA seems to be close to implementing distance limits for driving.

This needs to happen. Equipment (balls and clubs) are getting so technologically advanced that they're making course distances obsolete. Courses are usually pretty land locked, so they can only expand so much. It takes a lot of the skill of golf away when it just becomes a "hit it farthest" contest.

So, like NASCAR, they need to simply limit the tech.

LIV dying will be good for the sport. Not that anyone was watching it, but all those big names being back in the PGA field will be huge.

It won't be good for the players who signed 8 and 9 figure guaranteed contracts. Now they'll go back to a merit based system.

It also won't be good for the PGA guys at the bottom of the rankings.

However, it will boost competition and LIV did force the PGA to increase payouts at all of their tournaments, so that was nice.

LIV to play 2026 season.

This does nothing to counter the aforementioned speculation that the league will be shut down. They're already 5 events into the season. The speculation is likely stemming from meetings regarding planning out the following season.

If I were a player on that tour, I'd be asking for a release.
