NCAA
Re: NCAA
Ditto. I watched the clip and the coach doesn't get into it.
I'm guessing they had massive personality clashes, and the coaches were probably a part of it.

Re: NCAA
fucking hell.North Carolina has made a strong investment in Malone, agreeing to a six-year, $50M dollar contract with their new head coach. Not only will Malone be making approximately $8.3M per season, but his annual value will rank him among the top-paid college coaches in the sport.
...
Pete Thamel of ESPN projects Malone's contract will make him the second-highest paid coach in college basketball, just behind Bill Self of Kansas on the list.

He's definitely not 6'0". Some pre-draft measure put him at 5'9 3/4", which still looks a little generous.

He gave me serious Johnny Manziel vibes. Short with a shitty attitude.
Someone will try him out.

Re: NCAA
I hear you, but I think the days of conference championships mattering in the grand scheme of things are over.
Don't worry though, if there's money to be made, the powers that be won't get rid of them.

Re: NCAA
We didn't for a long time. It was "best record" and other tiebreakers. The conference championship game is a relatively new thing, and was about money. It became relevant for a moment because teams got left out of the BCS for not playing in one (EX: Big 12), but that didn't last long, particularly as the CFP started.
And OSU-Cheatingscumbags matters to us, but to the rest of the country, they don't care. Do you care about Duke-UNC basketball? No, but it is the biggest rivalry in that sport. That's why the rest of the country laughed at your idiot fanbase when you tried to victory lap the fact that you beat OSU when they won the title. Nobody cares. What matters more than anything is who wins the last game of the season.

Re: NCAA
And that's my point. Why do we want to go back to co-champions or champion by formula? If we are going to get rid of finding the champ by them playing for it, then we might as well just get rid of the conference title all together. If the game doesn't matter, why does the title? Two teams are co-champs and the team that moves on is decided in a conference room? Fuck that. . .We didn't for a long time. It was "best record" and other tiebreakers.
Then why is that game like one of the most watched sporting events in all of sports (in America)? People laughing at idiots that claim "We beat them so. . ." are always going to be laughed at (or felt sorry for). It has nothing to do with what part of the season that game was played or who was playing.matters to us
I mean, part of the reason we have playoffs now is because we were tired of hearing who's best based on some highly subjective formula. We shouldn't go back to that.
Re: NCAA
First of all, answer the work email I sent you. It's been over a week and several texts now.
As the regional walls fell, so did the importance of rivalries. As more games were added, it diluted all the other games, even rivalries. As society moved to a "everything or nothing" mentality across all things, the national title became the only thing that matters.
It sucks, but that's reality.
On that weekend, it will still be the most important game, but each season will ultimately be judged on the championship.
Because it all boils down to that last game and OSU-pussieswithnointegrity proves it. Two years ago, OSU won the title, but lost "The Game". Ask any expert and they say OSU wins that game 99 out of 100 times. However, in this reality, they lost, but it affected NOTHING. OSU still went on to run the table and win the title. Nobody cares that they lost that game. Even OSU fans forgave it, and while TTUN fans won't admit it, part of the "yeah, but we beat you" is cope because OSU won the title. Worse for TTUN, we won it the year after they did, which as Nick Saban said, "Is the worst case scenario for a rivalry."Cakedaddy wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 2:20 pm I mean, part of the reason we have playoffs now is because we were tired of hearing who's best based on some highly subjective formula.
