As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Well, 5 episodes in, and I still have no idea whats going on.

On HBO and created by the guy who did Deadwood (a bunch of cast members are also Deadwood alumni), the show seems to revolve around some weird guy who just shows up in the middle of a seriously dysfunctional family of surfing legends in California. I've got him pegged as either the second coming of Jesus, or an alien. Like Deadwood the language is Shakespear crossed with Yoda, plus surfer.

"Whipping skippy" is my new favorite euphemism.

I've also seen the show compared to Twin Peaks. This last episode during a cookout, a zombie is, out of the blue, walked out of a room to sit with everyone, and nobody bats an eye.

So.

Someone watch the show and tell me what the fuck is going on.

Yeah, I think they had just about every non-major character from Deadwood in this show.

Season just ended, and I heard it wasn't renewed.

So that's that.

Oh, Ed O'Neil (Al Bundy) does the best acting of his career in this show.

That is blasphemy in some circles.

& it's an unwritten law that any show Ed's in from now on will always be canceled after two seasons at most. That's three shows so far.

Even better than his role in The Adventures of Ford Fairlane? That's hard to believe.

He was, like, a real-life actor in that show. Not just a caricature or cartoon.
