Also, WTF? We have the same taste in women and the same ailments? Stop copying me!

No jokes, this country would probably be doing a lot better if they elected us over Biden-Trump.

Covid is back again.

You should mind yer own business cuz ever since I discovered these things prevent 95% of my brutal pollen allergies I never take 'em off before the snow hits the ground.Leisher wrote: Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:47 am I don't discount anyone taking steps to remain healthy, but if I see you masking alone in a car or outside, I know you're a whackadoo.

You should move to Alaska if your allergies are that bad.
Also, there's always an exception. Allergies I understand, but I never saw anyone doing this until Covid.
Right?

Alaska is verdant in the summer. Also, I don't want to burn to death in a wildfire.
Well, I didn't discover it until Covid. And I'm not giving up good tech because of peer pressure.Leisher wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 1:20 pm Also, there's always an exception. Allergies I understand, but I never saw anyone doing this until Covid.

Nor should you. You do you and knowing your situation, I completely understand. Doesn't negate my point about people, genuinely still worried about Covid, doing it alone in their car or outdoors and away from people.Alhazad wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 3:10 pm Well, I didn't discover it until Covid. Ditto. Nice to hear from you again. Hope all is well.

I'm hearing a 30-40% kill rate for this virus. Covid was less than 1%.
6 week incubation time too, so cool.

36 Americans are now being monitored for the Hantavirus in the U.S.
I really hope they keep this one contained. I don't think people want to see what a 30-40% death rate looks like.

Re: Coronavirus
Not the first time I've heard smokers had an advantage against Covid. I remember something about that being discussed back in the first year or so. Also not the first time I've heard about nicotine patches being used by non-smokers, although I'm pretty sure athletes were the other group using them.
I do remember reading something years ago about a study finding smoking (I don't remember if it was the nicotine) helped to prevent dementia.
On a coincidental related note, I'm playing through Prey right now and the game takes place in an alternative timeline where a cure to cancer was found and everyone smokes cigars for pleasure and the mental health benefits.

Re: Coronavirus
I remember hearing those things as well, and I'm like "Well, surely we have data now" and we do, and smoking was very bad for COVID. The original paper claiming smokers were 23% less likely to contract COVID was 1) Written BEFORE April 2021, and 2) later retracted for being wrong.
Some people have reported that nicotine patches helped them feel better (and others felt worse) with long COVID. There is no scientific consensus, and this doctor being on Theo Von show alone makes me doubt anything he says. If it's real, he'd be on a real venue.
Ah yeah... no shock here

Peter Andrew McCullough (/məˈkʌlə/[1]) (born December 29, 1962) is an American former cardiologist.[2] He was vice chief of internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center and a professor at Texas A&M University.[3] From the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic, McCullough has promoted misinformation and conspiracy theories about COVID-19, its treatments, and mRNA vaccines.[4][5][6]
In October 2022, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) recommended that McCullough's board certifications be revoked due to his promotion of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines,[7][8] and by January 2025, the ABIM had revoked both of his certifications.[9][10]
