Best reality show on network TV.

I might be biased because I love Iron Chef, but the show is great.

The first episode of season three was on Monday night. Give it a try.

I liked it. A good start to the season.

Can't remember her name, but the girl that took charge of the women's team shows some real promise.

Yeah, I think the early favorites have to be the red headed girl you mentioned (she's cute and can cook) and the sous chef (Dan?).

The outside shots are the black lady that's a short order cook and possibly the black guy. Everyone else is incompetent.

What is the deal with the fat Chinese cowboy and his crying?

Bleh. I was overexposed to Gordon Ramsey when o'er in the U.K. Had to stare at his pic on the cover of his fucking autobiography for months. Read a review of it. There was a couple paragraphs quoted somewhere in the article that made me think he had to be one of the biggest & most arrogant pricks in the universe.

& I make a living being an arrogant prick.

Absolutely. That's a major part of the show, in fact.

He made one statement about how he'd "die" if one of his restaurants lost the highest rating from some fucking organization or something. Doing a job for that sort of approval is something inherently loathsome to me.

I don't think it's a matter of doing the job for approval. It's his way of saying "I have damned high standards, and I'm going to meet the highest standards out there. Anything else is failure."

It's like an NFL coach saying that anything short of the Super Bowl is failure. He doesn't need approval, that's just the ultimate goal in his arena.

I can't explain it concretely (yet, gimme time), but I just don't like the fucker. He has all the likability of the dean from "Animal House." Maybe his titling of his book "Humble Pie" had something to do w\ my bias.

That's the guy who does "Dinner Impossible," right? I've seen a couple episodes of that. He was a prick, but he pretty much had to be to get the job done.

Nah, Gordon is ok in my book. The secret about most successful people is that they are assholes. They have to be or they wouldn't be where they are.

Gordon would be a great boss as you'd always understand his motivations and what he thought of your performance. He's the kind of guy who will yell at you, but if anyone else tries, he'd destroy them.

In the two season I've seen of his show, I've been impressed by how he does motivate people and his genuine interest in getting the best out of them. You can say it's an act for ratings or whatever, but I don't think so.

As far as his yelling and being a dick, I think people who see the show and think he's being mean should steer clear of the military as he's using the same tactics they use in basic training. He tears you down and builds you back up. Each season has begun with him blasting everyone and giving backhanded compliments. As the season goes on, he really tears into those lagging behind and starts giving those who are getting it, more responsibility and more independence.

That's basic training 101.

From what I'm told, it's also how most of the great master chefs operate as a general rule. Makes sense, really, considering that a big money kitchen is turning out intircate dishes that must be perfect and have many different things timed to different clocks come out ready at the same moment. It's very complex and requires high levels of discipline and teamwork to pull off.

But I've not seen it in person. Just heard from friends in the biz and seen it on TV.

And being not gay, no cooking shows.

No gay guy would ever think of making Trout Ice Cream with Eyeball. (They have better taste.)

All because I have a crush on Alton Brown, that doesn't mean I'm gay.

My wife hates Alton Brown. She thinks he's nerdy and annoying.

Personally, I think he's very informative. Sure, the skits on his show are cheesy, but they're supposed to be, right?

If we talking food network, I like Rachel and Giada.

Sure, Rachel's a bit "fuller", a fact she blames on cooking shows and being too busy to work out, but she's got a great personality.

Giada, on the other hand, might be the sexiest woman alive. She's Italian (my homeland), she's beautiful, she's got a smoking hot pixie body, she can cook, her dad is a major Hollywood player, she's rich, and she's passionate about food which means she's passionate in other areas... Now nobody is perfect, and she has to have drawbacks, so I'm guessing she can be a bitch (arguing is in Italian blood, so this makes sense), I'd also bet she's a bit pretentious and probably spoiled.

That clause has never, in my experience, led to anything good.

Giada's show, iirc, tapes in some funky way that makes it hard to watch. It's like they only use 24fps or something.

Then you've had bad experiences.

This is my life's work (the pursuit of women), so trust me and Samuel L. Jackson when we say "Personality goes a long way."

A woman can have the perfect body, but without personality, you might as well just masturbate.
