You can upgrade buildings beyond your island level. Had no idea.

Makes sense since island can only go to 6, and buildings can go to 8. My buildings are T5, island T4.
Went to a Red zone today. First I tried going through the tunnel north of Yew Woods. 2 reds were camping. Like 6-8 unflagged players kept dancing around. I left, and went somewhere else. Found a Mist, learned that Mists are BLACK in red zones. Fished. Got some T6 and T7 fishes, left. Was there about 10 to 15 minutes, got 50k worth of fish. Nearly filled up my T6 fishing book.

Went back, 200k of fish in about 15-20 minutes. Filled up my T6 journal and 2 T4 journals.
Only downside of being in the mist/black zone: Tier too low messages are back. I can only catch up to T7 fish, so the T8s escape.
Also, only cost 420 silver to instantly warp back from the yellow zone to city. Was 1020 silver from the redzone itself, iirc.

Oh yeah, noticed the price on one of my T6 fishes was fishily low. Someone had placed a buy order for 10 gold each or something. (99% below market average). so I placed a sell order instead (never done that before).

Only ran into 1 other player in the mists I did for fishing, and they just walked right by me.

Had an off day, so spent the day working.
Upgraded the guild hall to T5 and the associated furniture for the laborers. Still not sure which laborer to do. The people that say they clear 5 million a day, etc, etc. Are they including the cost of buying filled books? Because you know they aren't out farming 15+ books worth. I can't seem to find a resource that tells you what you can expect from any given laborer. Except for the merc because it's just a fixed silver return.
I sold 100 more gold, and dumped that into guild hall stuff. 900 T5 blocks hurt. I'm starting to setup buy orders for things that I don't need 'right now'. Helps shave some silver off of things. I bought some empty T4 lumberjack journals and carried them with me while I farmed. From empty to full, there's only about a 2k difference. I can't imagine who is filling these things at the volume that labor farmers need them. I filled 5 in about 3 hours of on/off wood chopping. Granted, I'm doing this in Yellow zones, so only my T4 and 5 wood counts, but still. It was free silver for me while I did what I was going to do anyway, but hardly a way to make a living.
I'm seriously reconsidering making my own island/lumbermill. I have to do the math still, but I paid 440 per 100 nutrition tonight to process my lumber. I paid about 30k to process it all (had about 6k in various tiers to do), and didn't have to buy food. The break even point could be a long way off. Either way, I have to haul my stuff to fort sterling to process. Not like an island is a shortcut or anything. Now I'm leaning towards just leaving my island in Lymhurst and filling it with houses/laborers. But again, have to find out if any of them are really profitable buying full journals and giving them to the laborers. Leaving them all merc keeps it simple. The journals will fill doing what I like to do, and fairly quickly, even in yellow dungeons. And it's easy money. 2k each vendor with a 30%+ chance of double income (or so). Passive income is a myth. . . no matter what route you take, there's busy work involved. Except for crops. That seems to be pretty low overhead.
Speaking of crops. Is it worth it to grow cabbage if you don't have focus to water them?
Wife built a stable building on her island. Can make riding horses and transport oxen. She clears about 6k per ox buying the baby on the market for 5-6k, and selling transport ox for 11-12k. She's starting to get higher quality ones as well now. She said help yourself.
After selling gold (100), spending it all building infrastructure, lumber jacking, hauling resources around for processing and selling, I'm back up to 1.07 million with about 100k on the market still.
Oh ya. I changed my build. Still bow, but different spells. My last build was more PvE focused. This one is PvP. After the other night's adventures (I don't want to talk about it [1-7]), I wanted to make some changes.

Those shortcuts to red zones that are one space away from a major city are always bottlenecks and PvPers love to camp that place. I always take the longer route to the red zones its much safer.
Was doing some toying with PvP setup myself, i was also running a much more PvE focused build. I'm trying the dual swords build as it has some more mobility and knockups. And instead of running Plate boot, leather chest, cloth helm i'm going Plate boots and chest with leather helm. So i'm much tankier and more mobile and it feels like i do just as much damage. Also, one of the pieces has an ability that buffs my damage and reveals invis players. Much needed.

Cake, do yourself a favor and purchase yourself a Thetford cape. Its the best cape for damage bar none. Its the one that does the electric charge that leaps to another target. Big damage when it procs.

I dunno the best way to make $$. Other than fishing, so far.
My fishermen are up to level 3. Going to see what they do at level 6 (hopefully). My stone men are Level 4, and they suck balls for $$. Actually, they'd make more $$ if they would suck balls.

I guess at some point I need to make a spreadsheet and do math. Ugh. Or, just keep fishing.

Same here, my silver has slowly dwindled but my inventory has grown. I guess i should start selling some of those nice pieces of leather i've been making.
What we need to be doing is getting together as a group, at least 3 of us and going into red zones to farm up. There's safety in numbers and while i haven't ventured too many times into the red but i've found it to be less gank happy than you may think.
The good thing about the red zones is someone needs to be flagged up to attack you still. So if you're diligent and keep an eye out for potential gankers coming your way, you can usually mount up and get the hell outta there before you get jumped.

I added a slaughterhouse to my island so I could chop up fish. Made fish sauce. Damn that stuff is expensive, but I can't tell if there's much margin to it.

I am far more comfortable/confident in my PvP abilities after spending a ton of time in dungeons honing the muscle memory for casting, keeping track of who/what I'm hitting, etc.
We could try a group dungeon, with the whole group, as well.
