Hulk 2

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Don't make Ed Norton mad.

Marvel has taken the reigns of this film, which is interesting.

They created the Hulk. They own the Hulk. They write the Hulk. Now they get to create a film about the Hulk.

Here's hoping they get it right or Hollywood will point to it and say "See, we know what to do with your established properties better than you do."

Considering the abomination that the first film was, they can't do anything but improve.

At least they didn't get Jake Glyllyllyllenhall. Hulk would either be gay or in the military and hating it.

"The Incredible Hulk" will be directed by Louis Leterrier, a Frenchman whose previous films include the action adventure "The Transporter."

That's encouraging. Having seen some of Ed Norton's roles, I wouldn't make him mad.

Gordon, a gay Hulk sounds like a really bad horror movie or a porno.
Wadda mean? Other people can read this?!

Or one of Gordon's fantasies.

First trailer.

It looks miles better than the Ang Lee attempt.

Finally Hulk gets to hit something instead of fighting clouds.

HD trailer.

It looks............................................................ possibly like an actual sequel to Ang Lee's.

I remain undecided as to whether or not I will like it.

I don't recall the part you're talking about. Saw it in theaters a while ago.

He's alone in the cabin, his metronome swinging. His eyes change, like he initiated the change on purpose... he grins.

*LAST SPOILER WARNING. THERE ARE SPOILERS NOW.*

Did he have any control over it when he was in the Avengers? Because I was surprised, and delighted, as hell when Tony Stark showed up at the end of the movie.

In the comics things went all over the place. There were times when he was able to keep his Banner mentality. I think there was a while in the comics where the two entities were seperated and there were both a Dr. Banner and Hulk at the same time. I've been amazed that they've been able to keep the series alive, to be honest. When you have one of these "trying to be rid of this monster curse" plots they tend to get stale pretty quick.

I reviewed it elsewhere.

Spoiler warning - In fact, consider this whole thread spoiler filled.

As Vince pointed out, there have been many versions of the Hulk in the comics. He's been green, gray, and now red. In his green forms he's usually stupid, but at his strongest. Although, at times he's been smart enough to plan things out and carry on conversations. When he's gray, he usually keeps his intellect, but is weaker than the green Hulk. The red Hulk isn't Banner. And yes, Banner and the Hulk have been split up before, but I never really read the Hulk, so I don't know the details behind that.

As for hints in the movie that might indicate things to come:
-The fact that he ended up in Canada is interesting. Probably the most famous fight in Hulk's history is his battle against the Wendigo where Wolverine showed up to kill them both. Seeing the Hulk vs. Wolverine on the big screen would be awesome. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Marvel has the rights to the X-Men characters or if Sony does...? Still, I imagine a sequel will start with Hulk vs. Wendigo.
-Did you notice Mr. Blue's (Samuel Sterns) head expanding after the experiment with the Abomination? He becomes one of the Hulk's other gamma irradiated enemies, "Leader". Leader is not a brute, but rather a tiny little man with a hugely oversized head indicating his intelligence.
-There have been times when Banner can control the Hulk, yes. In fact, I think that's what the ending was preparing us for, his ability to bring the Hulk to the forefront whenever he needs him rather than just when he's angry. It makes sense that the guy who work constantly to gain this control since he couldn't screw Liv Tyler for fear of turning into the Hulk. One would assume that he was smiling because he achieved the control he wanted and can now get laid.

As for The Avengers, the three people that are generally considered the "heart and soul" are Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. Iron Man has had his own movie, Cap and Thor have movies coming out.
-Captain America is Steve Rodgers, but in the comics he's dead and Bucky Barnes is now Cap. Bucky used to be Cap's sidekick. It'll be interesting to see which way they go in the film. Steve is the ultimate goodie two shoes. Think Superman except having grown up in the 20s and 30s and minus the alien origin and super powers. Bucky is more about getting the job done and if people need to die, so be it. Bucky spent time as the Winter Soldier doing assassinations for bad people and while he wasn't in control of himself at that time, those times still haunt him, especially since he lost an arm during those years. His new one is bionic.
-Iron Man is Iron Man and I think he's golden at this point. I've heard Iron Man did so well that not only is Iron Man 2 a lock, but 3 might be as well.
-Thor is the one Marvel is worried about. He's all about mythology, so it'll be tricky. As Vince points out with Hulk and how usually man/monster stories get boring, the mythology stuff couldn't be more played out.
-The original Avengers were: Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Wasp. Although, in the fourth issue they find Captain America and he's given founder status over the departing Hulk who can't be controlled.
-There is an Ant-Man film in the works. I would assume they'll introduce the Wasp there as she's his wife.
-Also Avengers: Wolverine and Spider-Man. Just something to keep in mind because you never know what kind of cameos they might pull out for future films.
-The most iconic Avenger that hasn't been in the films is Hawkeye who is hugely popular with fans. Hawkeye is the anti-Steve Rogers Captain America. It was once described that if Cap said "This turkey is delicious", Hawkeye would respond with "This turkey sucks and you suck and who put you in charge anyway". He's great with a bow or anything he can throw or shoot.
-Two other early Avengers of note because they could be used to tie franchises together is the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. They are mutants and the children of Magneto.
-There are three Marvel universes at the moment. The Ultimate universe, the 616 (regular), and the movie universe. Marvel plans to keep them all separate.

I finally got around to watching the BluRay of this flick, from christmas.

I don't know if I was asleep the first time I saw it, or what... but this film was full of Iron man tie-ins, and I think a Captain America tie-in.

1. "Stark Industries" is mentioned near the beginning.

2. SHIELD is mentioned several times, and it was the SHIELD database that figured out who "Mr. Blue" was.

3. Was the serum that turned that army guy into the super-human guy... was that the same stuff that made Captain America? I don't know much about Cpt. America, but just curious. And now we know Captain America's shield was on Stark's workbench in IM.

Not sure how the only Iron Man reference I caught the first time around was Tony Stark, at the end.

No.

Captain America's serum had nothing to do with gamma radiation.

You are forgetting... the initial dose of pure serum... the stuff that had been on ice since WW2... just made the dude really strong and fast. He didn't turn into the monster until Mr. Blue blasted him with the radiation AND infused him with Hulk blood.

Actual Marvel Universe - No.

Steve Rogers was the only person to get a dose of the serum. It was the only sample and the inventor was murdered by Nazis who thought they had his notes...he kept none.

Ultimate Marvel Universe - I think so.

In the re-imagining of the Marvel universe by today's writers and artists, I believe the super soldier serum was a common link among them all, including "mutants". (No such thing in the Ultimate universe, they're all just experiments or something like that. I haven't really read many.)

The Ultimate universe is what the seem to try and follow closer than the original universe. Makes sense to me. The characters are updated, but you're not pissing on the stories and continuity fans respect.

Sony, the makers of the X-Men movies and the Wolverine piece of shit "movie", could learn a lesson in how Marvel makes movies.
