I had not even heard of this until I heard about critics bashing it and audiences loving it. Wondering what's up I looked and it stars conservative Christian Chris Pratt. I guess it's also pretty "anti-woke". That explains the critics...again, "no such thing as media bias"
I'll have to give it a look and see who is right.
“Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole.” - Dr Thomas Sowell
Decided to go ahead and read the first book in the series. It's mediocre. Imagine Bourne, but less well written, with a thinner plot, and pro-Christian and pro-Fox News.
I was stunned to see it above 4* on Good reads, I can only imagine a certain type of people have bandwagoned onto it.
Three things stick out of movies the last few years:
1. Bad guy is always going to be a straight white male.
2. It's all about money, not culture, religion, or ideology.
3. Everybody is gay or has a gay best friend.
When a movie breaks one of those tropes, it's noticeable. And that's unfortunate.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
