Rocky Balboa
This fucking thing.Spike Lee/Denzel/bank robbery.. I think.Which one is that?Inside Man.
Had Spike or someone else injected some talent in the directing chair, I'd agree. Spike killed this flick. He took it from "damn good" to "eh, whatever."

I watched Shaun of the Dead last weekend. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe I heard too much hubbub about it before I bought it.Hero
Kung Fu Hustle
Shaun of the Dead
On the up side, I bought Blazing Saddles on DVD at the same time.

Hated.
Enjoyed.
Enjoy some parts more than others.
Agreed, except I did think the Vince parts of Wedding Crashers were funny.

Rocky Balboa:
Not an old-school Rocky flick.... though they DID still throw in an old-school training montage, without shame and without appearing self concious about it. It's a Rocky flick. You get a training montage.
The movie is almost more human drama than anything else.... it's a 1 hour 40 minute movie, and my buddy said they didn't even start training to fight for an hour and 10. The fight scenes are also not old school.
Still a decent movie, and a MUCH better ending for the character than the brain damaged whatever that Rocky was at the end of Rocky V.

Exactly why Stallone said he made this film.
He says he's trying to do the same thing with Rambo.
I'd love to sit him down and explain to him that what this country really needs right now is more John Spartan.

Finally, saw it this weekend.
I agree with all of it. I'd even go so far as to tell people that if you're coming for a "Rocky" fight, don't bother. The fight is tacked on at the end and has little resemblance to the fights from the previous movies.
This movie is all about Rocky Balboa, the man, and his journey through life outside of and beyond his boxing career.
It's not as good as Rocky or even Rocky II, but it's a good film.
7 out of 10.

For the record, I really enjoyed it. My wife saw it for the first time tonight, and she thought it was engaging and entertaining, but she likes more charm and less gritty. Think "To Catch A Thief"Malcolm wrote:This fucking thing.Spike Lee/Denzel/bank robbery.. I think.Which one is that?

It's not me, it's someone else.
