A master violin builder has a wife who dies in childbirth, and he manages to put her soul into his master piece instrument.
The movie then follows this violin around the world for the next few hundred years.
It's a pretty good movie.

I saw 75% of this movie about a decade ago, I don't remember why, but I remembered I enjoyed it. It has been in my Netflix queue for a couple years now, and just rewatched it to get it off of there.
There's a gimmick to tie the time periods together narratively, which I appreciated.
