The movie was better than I thought it would be.... but my opinion of colored by the fact that I was able to enjoy the first one. So if you didn't enjoy the first one, you won't enjoy this one.
That being said, I like that they continued the story... they didn't just say "Oh no a new rift just opened so let's make the exact same movie over again." Nope. This one.... was interesting. In a different way.
And I'm glad they addressed the fact that in the trailers some of the massive robots moved like power rangers, and not building-sized robots with a million tons of mass. Could have been done SLIGHTLY better... but I will forgive them that.
I also like that the addition of kids wasn't dumb. It actually made sense in the context of the film.
This flick is a robot porn for chinese and japanese audiences.
So yeah. If you liked the first, you'll like this one prolly. If you're joyless and hated the first, you're still joyless and will hate this one.

Holy shit is this a turd of a film.
It's like the writing team saw the criticism of the first film, and thought, "We can do worse."
The writing is worse. The acting is worse. The direction is worse. The effects are worse. The dialogue is worse. The action is worse.
The first film is miles better than this pile of crap.
Nothing makes any sense. How do you have 10 years to prepare for a WORLD ENDING threat and the best you can come up with are 4 Jagers with fewer weapons than what won the first film? Oh, and like 8 kids training to become pilots.
The main baddie and their plan is laughably horrible.
I can only assume that the people behind this film thought the adult market wasn't paying off, so let's make a Power Rangers film.

I was pretty much with Vince on this one. The first was so ridiculous that it numbed me for this one. It did let me like this one a bit more because I wasn't shocked by the stupidity of the idea.
