French movie about a quirky young girl doing good deeds while looking for love.
Very, very good film.
If you want to learn about cinematography, this is a great film for it. A lot of people think that just means epic landscape shots, but that's incorrect. Lots of examples of how shots and effects help to tell the story.
The main actress is very charming and attractive. Her sexuality is never on display, even when she's having sex. Yet they use the perfect shots to make you understand she has sexuality. It's interesting to note because of how the story makes you wonder if she has no sexuality at all.
The whole film is a feel good movie, although there are a couple of dangling plot threads that I didn't see get resolved. Perhaps that was the resolution? Some people can't change.
Aside from a very brief shot of boobs and sixteen couples obviously bumping uglies, this is a family film. Most kids won't understand the themes and it'll probably be too long for them.
It is "artsy", but it's not pretentious. It has a ridiculously high 8.4 on IMDB.
