Fast and Furious - 8-10

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I am kind of embarrassed to say I watched the first one... I wanted to see what all the fuss was about...

I think Vin Deisel has other things he should be doing.

I sort of recall seeing the first in the theatre. I tend to take shots of booze to dull the recollection of it.

I watched 7 today. It was pretty decent. I've now seen all 7. Justin Lin, who directed 3 through 6, really turned the franchise around. (He also directed the Modern Warfare episode of Community, and the next Star Trek film) These movies aren't classics, but the franchise was basically considering a direct to video lifestyle for the 3rd movie, and Lin turned it around. None of the main characters, limited budget, but he made a half decent flick, for what it is. The last three movies (5, 6, and 7) are arguably the best in the series. Is it high art? No, but you'll get some ridiculous and enjoyable action scenes.

Those movies are great workout movies. I cranked through 3,000 feet of elevation on my trainer today while watching 7. The tribute to Paul Walker in 7 was well done. I actually cried during part of it. Having kids changes some perspectives.

At any rate, the franchise is almost at $4 BILLION of box office, with nearly $3 Billion of that coming in the last 3 films. These movies are fun, I'm glad Lin got a chance to make it what it is today.
It's not me, it's someone else.

I've heard Statham is a hard worker, and based on the 6 million movies he's in that's true, but you can tell in that photo that he doesn't want to be there.

I'm betting Vin Diesel is on the Rock's list. It doesn't seem like he has a heavy work load. Even his Riddick video game was pretty lazy.

The last two should be great.
And the beef goes on. Just a day after Vin Diesel confronted Dwayne Johnson about disparaging comments he made on social media, reportedly about him, Vin wrapped his final scene of their movie "Fast 8" and left, even though he's a producer of the film.

The feud is "not resolved," TMZ reported on Wednesday.

I knew Scott Eastwood was in 8 and was hoping it wasn't him. I've liked him in interviews and hope he does well in his career.

Funny that the "source" with the production, of which Diesel is a producer, says Rock is always showing up late.

Meanwhile, this went public because Rock called out people for being unprofessional, and all his co-stars from other films have said he's a huge stickler for being on time and ready to go.

Makin' bank.
On Saturday, the latest installment in the locally beloved action franchise clocked in at 2.44 billion yuan (about $350 million) at the Chinese box office, overtaking its predecessor Furious 7, which earned an historic 2.42 billion yuan in 2015.

After its opening on April 14, Fate of the Furious, directed by F. Gary Gray and starring franchise mainstays Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, smashed China's all-time opening-weekend records for an international film with a huge debut of $190 million.

Midway through its third weekend in North America, Fate of the Furious was expected to stay atop the chart with an estimated $18.5 million for a domestic total of $192 million through Sunday. Globally, the film just crossed the $1 billion mark.

F8 had Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, and Helen Mirren. No, I'm not kidding. In addition to all the typical people.

It's exactly what you expect in this series. Action, blah blah blah. It's not bad, even a little bit of character development. Good exercise movie, like the rest.
