Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Animated sequel of sorts.

Featuring two of the cast from the original and the screenwriter of the original film, so I know you'll all be clamoring to see it. There's a trailer at that link.

Doesn't look much like a movie. More like a so-so game, definitely seems to use a game engine style graphics. Maybe Unity?

I had the same thought. Looks cheap.

I guess I'm one of the only people that thought the first movie was fine.

I didn't hate it when I first saw it, but I have since read the book. Now I understand why the criticism is so harsh.

If one can set aside all the obvious political statements, it has a certain charm. However, once you understand what the film is really doing, it's impossible not to see it.

I read the book after as well and really didn't understand the criticism. While the book really delved into some deep concepts, there really wasn't much story there. The book seemed to spend way more time explaining the concepts and seemed to use a very thin plot as a vehicle to do so. A coworker that read the book first siad his biggest problem was they didn't show the armor. I can get on board that criticism.

I guess I missed what the film was really doing?

They looked like nazis in the movie, therefore everything in the movie was showing how fascist we all are.

Eh... that didn't really bother me. Reading the book, the government depicted certainly seemed to remove the notion that our rights are granted by our creator and instead advanced a notion that they are granted by government rather than should be protected by government. It is an interesting book, but I saw the government model depicted as a bit totalitarian.

I like the idea that if you want to get something from the government, you first need to put something into it.

I like the idea of having a government too small to be giving out candy.

IIR the book C, government provided a general, small level of service for the populace...roads and such... but if you wanted the good stuff like "voting" then you had to prove you deserved that right by doing federal service, first.

I have no problem with that.
