There was a New York minute where Amy Schumer was hot and it was mostly because of her attitude. Then she got a small taste of fame, and became a cunt.
But I'm with you. I get your platform and would vote for it.
I am 100% on board with people being proud of who they are, and I realize genetics plays a HUGE part of that. However, I'm not down with celebrating unhealthy bodies and lifestyles. Just because they're the norm doesn't make them ok. They shouldn't be celebrated as some sort of goal to achieve.
Target using a larger mom with stretch marks in its ads for bathing suits is awesome. I have no issue with it at all. That's their audience. Why not cater to your customers? Not ALL of the ads are or should be larger women, but throwing them in to showcase cuts made for women with those bodies is exactly what they should be doing.
However, Sports Illustrated shouldn't be using "plus sized models", at least not unhealthy ones. If the girl is just naturally bigger, then great. If the girl is someone busting her ass to come down from a larger weight and they want to showcase what hard work does, then great. However, it's a magazine in a very specific world where, aside from baseball, bodies are tight and toned for athletic performance. That's not where we should be saying "fat is ok". Those women should have ridiculous bodies that are achievable. That's the point. They have nothing to do but be in shape. They're not working a 9 to 5 job. They have money backing them. They're the dream.
You think men don't watch young Arnold or Statham or anyone else ridiculously ripped and think, "if I had time I could do that"? We KNOW we can't get there. Not being married with children and having a job. At best we'll be in great shape, but we're not getting every cut and muscle those guys have because they have trainers, personal chefs, and nutritionists. We have wives we say, "Couldn't make it to the store. Kids need to go here and here and here. Hot dogs on the stove. Love you."

Back to your original point, if you woke up rolled over and Faris, Kendrick, or Plaza was in your bed, you're not complaining.

As to the rest of the stuff, I basically agree with you, except the genetics part. Genes haven't changed that much in the past 50 years, yet obesity has.
Hunter McGrady is a good example of a person who should NOT be modeling, imho. She's 5'11". My wife looked at one of her SI pics and said she wasn't that bad. I said she was an overweight cow, and they photoshopped her stretch marks and stuff away. We found some more natural pictures over her online. The girl is 238 pounds. 1 inch shorter than me, and 30 pounds heavier. That's not healthy. That's not something to be admired.

I think Anna Kendrick is hotter, but I think I'd enjoy the company of Aubry Plaza more. I like her style and humor quite a bit.
