Kubo and the Two Strings

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Kubo and the Two Strings

Post by GORDON »

I thought this was a Japanese import, as the style seems to suggest....

When it came out I filed it under "maybe someday" and forgot about it.

But then the kid heard from kids at school that it was good, so we made time for it.

It was actually quite excellent.

And looking at the credits, it is actually a western film made to look Japanese.... which explained my wondering why there wasn't any weird Japanese affectations like random "wood spirits" and showing your emotions with a drop of water on your face, or whatever the fuck that is. Just shit and idioms that we don't understand, not having grown up with them. We make everything better. USA! USA!

Anyway, a quality flick.

My family watched My Neighbor Tortoro a little while ago. I found it strange and Japanese. So I heard this movie was too, and didn't put it on my list. But if it's good, himm...
It's not me, it's someone else.
