TWD-S7 Spoiler Thread
The Walking Dead Season 7 has started off with a bang. Followed by another bang. Then a thud. Then a whole bunch of whacks and thuds and splatters.
Brilliant episode. I love the red herring...see what I did there?...first kill. Never saw the second one coming.
Every line was designed to throw you off. I also don't buy the bullshit complaint that "they dragged it out". For fuck's sake it happened 20 minutes into the episode you impatient twats. Do you want a good story with emotional payoffs or a bunch of random scenes with no buildup, and thus, mean nothing. I hate people.
Remember the chick who took the arrow through the eye? That's how Abraham died in the book. That happened, and then they kind of wrapped his plot lines at the end of season 6. He was a strong contender in my mind to die. So was Eugene who told Rick the formula for making bullets at the end of season 6 making him expendable. I also thought Maggie was possible because the woman who plays her broke down crying during a recent interview when asked about the scene.
Listen, I'm going to address the book here. What I'm going to say is VERY minor, but the difference between the show and book is interesting. In the book Maggie blames Rick, but not. She knows he couldn't have done anything, but she blames him for not trying while Glen was murdered in front of them. They seem to have shot that down immediately in this episode. They added a twist though. Instead of holding a grudge against Rick, and I'll come back to him, she could hold one against Daryl. Daryl's actions directly led to Glen's death. So that dynamic could get interesting.
As for Rick, that whole episode was about breaking him, and the one weak part in the script was that they didn't have Negan explain that he was worried killing Rick would make him a martyr. He wanted to scare him and show him the hopelessness of his situation, but not kill him. He needs workers not corpses.

Negan's Lawful Evil, right?

If so, that makes him one of the devils, not one of the demons.

Rick would be Lawful Neutral, I believe?

Sometimes... I think he shot one of those hospital cops on a whim, once. BANG "Shut up."

Re: TWD-S7 Spoiler Thread
I think the complaints that they drug it out refers to dragging it out over the break between the season finale of season 6 and the season premiere of season 7. I kind of agree. I cared more about who it was that got killed a few months ago. Hard to stay emotionally invested in it for months.
But they certainly delivered the brutality of it.

Re: TWD-S7 Spoiler Thread
Ok, so 4 episodes in, and Negan just slid his dick down Rick's throat and Rick thanked him.
I really hope the corner gets turned, soon. It isn't fun watching our heroes swallowing cock. That isn't why we watch.
Yes, I get it, Act I establishes the shit situation they are in. Since we are 1/3 through the season, hopefully Act II starts soon.

I have answers, but I haven't watched Ep4 yet and won't until Wednesday night. I'll report back then.

I'm with you. I suspect they're trying to convey the sense of hopelessness that is being felt, but after a while people will stop tuning in just so they can feel hopeless.GORDON wrote:Ok, so 4 episodes in, and Negan just slid his dick down Rick's throat and Rick thanked him.

Also it was fun watching negan's "slid my dick down your throat" line with my son.

Re: TWD-S7 Spoiler Thread
As a reader of the books, it's interesting to see where they're going with Rick in particular. Without spoilers, there's a scene I was expecting at the end of that episode that did not happen.
I have a feeling a scene similar to what I was expecting will take place in the midseason finale.
I think they're going to show you Hilltop next week, their situation, and what it means for Maggie.

Re: TWD-S7 Spoiler Thread
I figured he was on borrowed time. When the doctor lost his leg, I knew he wouldn't last too long before they killed him off. Makes things too limiting in script writing. Less of a degree with this one, but same principle.
