The method is being patented and self-help book is being ghostwritten.

And isn't life shitty enough with replacing yummy food with Soylent?

He had no idea either. It's still going, too. Most weeks I gain or lose about 10 pounds seemingly at random while my exercise stays at zero and my caloric intake stays constant. Long term it averages out to zero with the biggest single swing so far being the 40 pound swing that coincided with when I first start tracking this stuff. Doc said to let him know if I have any other symptoms of anything to look at, otherwise it's too non-specific to worry about.

I don't think so. It always matches with the doctor's office measurements from the same day (well, exactly three pounds lighter due to wearing clothes at the doc but not at home).

I considered that, but then thought of a few things:

- My taste buds aren't awake until a few hours after my brain and body so they don't miss a damn thing during breakfast period. They only know what they hate in that time.

- I'm growing increasingly intolerant of and sickened by restaurant food and overly processed grocery store items (meaning any sort of ready to cook/eat meal). I long ago passed that point with shitty fast food. I don't mean from a digestive perspective, either. I mean psychological. To turn a pun, I can't stomach the idea of consuming these things more than a few times per month because they end up killing my appetite and making me nauseous, sometimes physically. They look bland, they taste bland, they smell like spiced up roadkill and Soviet-issue vegetable rations from a Pripyat warehouse. If I make anything substantial, it's done by me with ingredients as unprocessed and, in the case of seafood, as unfarmed as I can get (this makes my seafood jones an expensive bitch).

- I don't have an automatic dishwasher, so any meals I make I have to clean up after by hand, and I'm a lazy motherfucker in some areas. I've got the patience and desire to do that once per day, maybe.

- I try not to use the oven in warm months due to the radiant heat. That's becoming less of a thing now.

- Soylent is delivered to my door, takes a grand total of 15 minutes to prep and clean up as many meals as I can fit in my blender, doesn't make me retch, has a known and preset cost per unit, and contains more nutritional value than most things I can find at the market. According to the elliptical at the gym, my energy level during cardio over the past couple weeks is at worst holding steady and at best going up. The blend I use gives me a subtle vanilla flavour that keeps things from being banal and cardboardy. The part about Soylent that weirds me out in a good way is that it doesn't leave me feeling unfilled or snack-prone later on. While using it, I seem to be effectively immune to the munchies.

Mmmmmm a subtle vanilla flavor. You should have led with that.

Maybe learn to cook unprocessed food, it can be a new hobby. No one around here really appreciates the artistic meals I make 4 nights a week, but *I* know.

That comes from the protein powder I mix in. By itself, Soylent can get quite bland. I use to drink it straight, but then wised up. With the singular exception of buffalo wings (one of the few restaurant foods which I thoroughly enjoy), I cannot stand eating things that walk around on land. They look, taste, and smell godawful. That means my protein comes in the form of powder, soy, or expensive fish/crustaceans.

I already know how to. It's not terribly hard to attain competence in the culinary arts if you have the mental capacity to change a tire (doing it well is another thing). I don't want to drop the time and cash to do it thrice or even twice per day, I don't get enough of a kick out of it. Hence the cheap, simple, quick, and effective Soylent solution with its infinite mixing possibilities.

Seriously, preparing a good meal is, for me, an artistic outlet. YMMV.

With infinity spare time and cash, I'd probably find it amusing. I used to make homemade pizzas with all kinds of wacky shit on them that came out surprisingly well. Turns out pizzas have taste that you can get to if you remove enough of the cheese and grease.
