The Rocketeer - Remake

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I actually saw the first one, in Oceanside, California where I was in my military tech school. There was a local theater that would loop 2 movies all day, and you could pay to get in and just watch them as much as you wanted. On a Saturday to get away from the fucking squad bay I would take in a Subway sandwich and watch a couple flicks.

I think the one paired with Rocketeer was V.I Warshawski. "What's the I stand for?" "My middle name."

The military really was a mix of good and bad.

But, I remember another flick I saw a couple times in that theater was Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, so that's awesome.

You know what's a great idea? Remaking a movie that bombed with a female lead in an action movie, which almost never equals financial success!

Sounds like more of a sequel than a reboot?
Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after [original protagonist Cliff] Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African–American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jetpack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.
But yeah, the first failed, right?
It's not me, it's someone else.

The first one made $46m on a budget of $35m.

I don't understand why they think a jetpack will capture current audiences.

Speaking purely from a business viewpoint, I don't understand casting a black woman as the lead in an action movie that isn't based on a successful property. Maybe they need a tax write off?
