Fast Food

Post by Leisher »

We have a bunch of different threads about this topic, and maybe this fits better in one of those, but...

Remember all the chaos caused by people who thought their fast food job should pay like a real job?

Wendy's will have self-serve kiosks in all 6000 locations soon.

McDonald's has already been testing them, but Wendy's is going all in. Does anyone really think the rest of the fast food world won't follow suit and quickly?

Most supermarkets I know have that shit already. Only the big warehouse joints don't.

Costco did, but have removed them due to theft.

I will probably start using a Wendy's self-serve kiosk. When I drive through and are ordering for 4 people, and 3 of them need their burgs prepared custom, it's always a crap shoot about who is going to be pissed when I get home, unless I sit in the drive through line and hold it up for 2 minutes checking burgs.

At least with the kiosk there's only 1 point of idiocy... the cook who can't read... instead of 2, a cashier who can't enter a custom order correctly.

I fucking HATE self-scan grocery stores. I don't know why I don't care about self-serve-Wendy's kiosks. I think it's because when I do the grocery shopping I have like 150 items in the cart and I don't want to do all that work, and the system still sucks with, "Keep the bag on the scale so I know you aren't stealing." There aint room when you have a cart full of stuff.

Ordering a #3 at BK isn't a big deal, takes 20 seconds. Grocery stores are labor intensive if you are getting more than 10 items, and that's what express checkouts are for.

Idea: an express kiosk at Wendy's for people without special orders.

Sounds reasonable. Hopefully peeps don't get in the "no customizations" kiosk line, make the order, then hold up the express line waiting for a manager because they forgot Timmy can't eat pickles. People are idiots, and now that I think about it, can these kiosks work at all?

Sheetz has had them for quite some time, I believe.

I went there once a few years ago specifically to check out their order entry system. It seemed simple.enough to me, but I was the only one there and a computer guy. I wonder what happens during the breakfast rush when the bullshit elderly are trying to order their bottomless coffee so they can loiter in the dining room all morning for ninety cents bitching about how in their day you didn't need a computer to order coffee.

I think people with quick brains are always going to lament that the people around them seem to move in slow motion.
