American Sniper

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I remember some hubbub about liberals hating this movie because it was supposedly all rah-rah USA USA, and racist.

I just watched this movie, and anyone who thinks it is mindless jingoistic military porn is a fucking idiot.

Really good movie.

Agree with Gordon that this isn't a patriotic film. It's also not a anti-war, anti-U.S., or anti-gun film. It's just a movie about a guy who happened to be a U.S sniper, and a really good one. It's about him trying to do what's right, and the price he pays for it. And it's tragic in more ways than one.

I wasn't buying Bradley Cooper's performance, either.

Scott Eastwood tried out for the part of Chris' brother. When interviewed he said he never got a call back, but since the film was about to be released he had to assume he didn't get the part.

Kind of funny that Clint treats him like any other out of work actor.

According to the report, Kyle was warned by the Pentagon before he published his book that his medal count was incorrect. And this isn’t like embellishing a resume; lying about medals and achievements is a serious ethical violation that could violate both the military’s Uniform Code of Military Justice and federal law.
...
He lied about punching former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura after alleging that Ventura criticized the Iraq War and said SEALs “deserve to lose a few”; the former wrestler was awarded $1.8 million in a defamation suit against the Kyle estate. His story about killing two would-be car jackers? Untrue. His tales about shooting dozens of looters from the roof of the Superdome in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina have also been proven false.
A bit?
