Federal judge rules that the island's ban on guns is unconstitutional, so instead they to impose a $1,000 tax on handguns to infringe on the peoples' constitutional right to keep and bear Arms.
What a great idea!
Want to express your own opinions or practice religion? Don't want to be forced to support soldiers living in your home? Don't want to endure unreasonable search and seizures? Want a trial by jury? Don't want to be punished by cruel and unusual methods? Want the right to vote? Well those are inconvenient for any government, so let's charge people $1k per right.

My thoughts for a while have been the vote/gun comparison on these gun laws. If you can't apply it to voting (a right) then you can't apply it to owning a gun. They did away with the poll tax a long time ago.
