Haha.
The rivalry between Paris cabbies and Uber turned violent today, as striking taxi drivers began attacking cars booked through Uber and another private-hire service.

Thank god Europe's here to lead the world into the golden utopian socialist paradise that's no doubt just around the corner.

Edmonton douchebags follow suit.
Worried too many drivers would make it impossible for anyone to earn a living...

Yeah, god forbid your industry be subject to consumer demands.

Taxi drivers in U.S. make median $33k/yr after all the cab company bullshit like 500% markups on credit card processing fees. Starting drivers who rent their cars make maybe $8/hr and run 12-hr shifts. Uber drivers make $15+ per hour on a part-time job, or more if they go full-time.

Taxi companies should be dismantled with a woodcutter's hatchet, but you can't really expect the drivers not to fight for their rice bowl -- especially recent immigrants with few prospects.

Working for a shitty boss is your fault, as is working with an outdated biz model.

Violence erupts in Chicago.
Emanuel proposes increasing cab fares and fees on companies that let people use smartphones to hail private vehicles. But the plan would also give those ride-sharing companies access to Chicago's two airports and the McCormick Place convention center.

The United Taxi Drivers Community Council represents about 700 of Chicago's 12,000 cab drivers. It says the increase wouldn't make up for money lost competing in those areas.
...
The ride-hailing company Uber responded to the strike threat by recruiting more drivers and offering discounts.

The taxi dudes are striking ... which is going to increase their profits how? The Uber dudes respond by dropping their rates.

How long before cabbies hail Uber drivers and then murder them?

Well that will make people sympathetic to their plight.
