We didn't talk about Beyonce's performance and political statement during the halftime show and I just saw something that reminded me of it.
For some reason, people thought the song was about the Black Panthers, and that's not the case. Although, it should be pointed out that the song did contain lyrics where Beyonce said something along the lines of preferring babies with afros...take that for what you will...
Her uniform, and her backups dancers, was the tribute to the Black Panthers.
Can we talk about that? The Black Panthers are NOT a nice organization. They're openly talked about overthrowing the government. This is the equivalent of Taylor Swift wearing a KKK uniform in next year's halftime show.
Is Beyonce that ignorant about the Black Panthers? Is she just flying her racist flag? Or is she trying to appeal to black people, whom I'd be willing to bet are less than half of her fan base...
What was up with Bruno Mars? He looked what would happen if Prince fucked Kid (from Kid and Play) and the offspring dressed up like MC Hammer.
Also, Coldplay was so out of place on that stage. Who did they blow to get that gig?
It was an odd halftime show.
Anyway, the reason this popped back into my head today is because I saw this chick's rant about the subject.
She's clearly a religious right winger, but her criticism is pretty valid, and that closing line is, as Gordon would say, "Oh Snap!"
