This thread sucks as I sit here trying to convince myself how satisfying that grilled chicken salad was that I had for dinner.

I honestly do not like them. Although I will admit I enjoyed the Bojangle's breakfast chicken sandwich.

I happily am not a fan of Egg McMuffins either.

Although I do like English muffins.

Maybe I've just had bad biscuit experiences my whole life?

Keep in mind that I lived up North most of my life, so by the time I got down South I wanted nothing to do with any biscuits.

Come down, I'll take you to the best biscuit places around.

I'd like to point out that my exposure to biscuits during my childhood was basically Bob Evans.

BBQ and such weren't big deals back in the day.

Now you can't throw a stick without hitting a BBQ joint or a fucking Mexican restaurant. (Fuck them)

There's a place down here called Kelly's that makes a biscuit that's six inches across and absurdly flaky and tender. It's madness.

BE biscuits aren't terrible. They are just soft, flaky bread. Sounds like you have some mental issue with them.

I've always considered biscuits to be hard, dry pieces of bread.

So yeah...

You're describing hardtack. That isn't supposed to be good.

Biscuits are supposed to be eaten within 7 minutes of leaving the oven.

Dear Lord, man, you don't even know what a biscuit is.

This must be how TPR feels when I talk about brisket.

All the brisket I've found, even down south, sucks.

Best one I've ever had in my life was one my brother-in-law smoked. It was his first attempt ever. Subsequent attempts have been less successful. But that first one was the shit.

Back to biscuits, I remember ordering BE's biscuits and gravy once and thinking "the gravy must be here to add moisture to these terrible biscuits." Hell, the only places I can even think of that sells them around here is BE and KFC.

I'm not a fan of cornbread either...

Catt: Yes. And I'm right there with you on Leisher + biscuits, too.

Leisher: While they are nothing like real southern biscuits, have you never even been to a Red Lobster with their cheddar bay "biscuits" that are warm and fluffy and soft? While their flavor profile is not the same as the sorts of biscuits we are referring to here, the texture is supposed to be similar.

...KFC...

Those are not biscuits. Those are pucks of evil.

As analogy, if KFC is your touchstone then what you've done is like someone watched the Star Wars Christmas Special and used that as the basis to decide they don't like science fiction.

I know I've eaten biscuits at places other than KFC and BE's, but I can't think of where.

And honestly, if all biscuits you've ever eaten are dry and most of the time seem stale or overcooked because they're hard, would you like them? Would you go clamoring for them?

For the record, I also don't eat tofu, rice cakes, and any seafood that smells fishy.

Reading this thread sucks as I sit here trying to convince myself that the 4 meatballs and glass of water that I had for dinner was really satisfying.
