Moms shouldn't drink.

That woman is living in her own personal hell. One that she created. That last line has to be a kick in the balls every fucking night until the day she dies.

It isn't a guarantee that the mother feels any remorse, or feels responsible for her actions. I think a good chunk of people don't.

If you read the article you'd know that this one does. Clearly she's dedicated her life to her mistake.

Hell would be doing it for an eternity. This is just penance.

I skimmed.

I think a lot of people pretend to have feelings, and like to portray being good people for appearances, but don't, and aren't.

You mean like people who constantly scream about equality and whatnot, yet don't vote to give awards to people that don't look like them?

Or people who care about the plight of immigrants but don't associate with them except to tell them how badly they're cutting the lawn?

Or people who fight for women's rights, yet completely ignore how poorly women are treated all around the world?

Or people who constantly bitch about slavery in this country 400 years ago, yet do nothing about the slavery that still goes on today?

Well, pretty much, yes.

I'm trying to remember if "don't drink when you're pregnant" was common knowledge in 1970. Honestly don't know.

'70? Eh, depends what you consider "common sense." Even the Scottish have traditionally stopped drinking during pregnancy. The first major US study wasn't until '73, although there were isolated ones on the books since the turn of the 20th century.

It's discussed in the article... :D

Although, how much that study being released would matter to a 14 year old sexually active alcoholic is questionable.

CDC says women can either be teetotalers or on birth control.
Sexually active women who stop using birth control should stop drinking alcohol

Since I just posted the Zika virus thing in the Church thread, the thought occurs that this puts Irish Catholics in a bit of a catch 22.
