Star trek Into Darkness - Nerd rage

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I strongly disagree with these results. Into Darkness is easily the best sci-fi alternate universe story ever told and one of my favorite movies of all time. The fact that this is due to reasons its creators almost certainly didn't intend and stumbled into by accident doesn't change it.

They can all go fuck themselves.

Here's your options:
1. Roll out the original actors again, minus the dead one(s?). However, eventually you won't be able to make any films anymore because they're all closer to death than ever.

2. Use the TNG cast, which would be fine, but you're not exactly turning out in droves to support those films. Plus, there's the Data problem.

3. Use the cast of any of the other shows, but let's be honest, they'd all be huge box office bombs.

4. No more Star Trek movies.

5. The reboot.

The correct decision is a no brainer. It keeps the established time line in tact, while providing a way to brings new life to old characters.

This is not completely reinventing the wheel like making Deadpool a mute with optic beams and swords in his arms. This is being faithful to the stuff that came before.

Into the Darkness was a really, really enjoyable and solid film. Was I thrilled with the revelation? Not particularly, and I think that's what has all these folks so pissed off. I'm ok with them being mad about that because that revelation didn't need to be there for the film to work. It felt wasted. But this film was still miles better than the majority of other Trek films.

I don't have any nostalgic associations with the power rangers song, so that meant nothing to me.

Ditto.
It's not me, it's someone else.
