What's "technical" work for police? Anything that's more involved than using a tazer?

Assuming the current growth of government spending continues as it is, eventually we will each have a drone attached to us whenever we leave out houses in the name of national security (You aren't against national security, are you, citizen?). Considering the NSA already stores all electronic communications everywhere in the country, we are already watched inside our houses, too.
