The Simpsons - TV Show
It also claims to show how a never-ending stream of celebrities came to come in contact with the Simpsons over the years.
He has coma dreams about celebrities perhaps not born when he entered into the coma?

Perhaps the coma was actually an episode set in the future.Malcolm wrote:He has coma dreams about celebrities perhaps not born when he entered into the coma?It also claims to show how a never-ending stream of celebrities came to come in contact with the Simpsons over the years.
It's not me, it's someone else.
Ok, if that's chronologically last, how many more celebs get to be in Homer's coma fantasy because they were born before he goes under? His brain seems to have access to decades of celebrities even though his oldest child is limiting that to a particular ten-year time frame.TheCatt wrote:Perhaps the coma was actually an episode set in the future.Malcolm wrote:He has coma dreams about celebrities perhaps not born when he entered into the coma?It also claims to show how a never-ending stream of celebrities came to come in contact with the Simpsons over the years.

And he magically guesses their likenesses nearly dead on from their voices or verbal descriptions alone?GORDON wrote:They probably play a TV in his coma room.

A coma with audio and occasional visual awareness, not to mention some semblance of consciousness for your brain to piece it all together? You're going to need Dr. House to explain that shit.GORDON wrote:His eyes obviously open from time to time with the TV in his field of view.

Yes, and his imagery is obviously flawed since everyone looks yellow and jaundiced, partially a result of his brain damage.
The real question, since we are talking about realism and plausibility in regards to The Simpsons, is how we, the audience, are privy to Homer's coma thoughts in the first place.

The ultimate reality show. The psyches of the comatose will become our entire entertainment foundation in the future. Fuck writers, fuck directors, fuck actors, ad nauseum.

Alright, then every episode must be Homer's coma, including the episode that put him in a coma since everyone's yellow in that. The crossover with The Critic is going to need some serious explaining.
He was only in the coma for six months and then died. Since then the show has been about Homer in purgatory.
Then that's 10.5 years of celebrities he might have access to.
They aren't his kids, they are demons sent to persecute him.
Demons wouldn't be hanging in purgatory. That'd make it hell. If it's hell, it's a rather tame version of it. It wouldn't start to get repetitive for a few thousand years, given the simplicity of Homer's needs. For the record, purgatory has always seemed like a total cheat of a metaphysical state to me.

Fine, fine. You get demons in purgatory because for some insane Russians the line between purgatory and hell needs blurring, otherwise it's not brutal enough.

It was in a coma.
It should rightfully be called St. Elsewhere-ing or Dallas-ing.

Simpsons loses a ton of major characters and Harry Shearer quits.
Just end the fucking show already.
