Captain Marvel
Both DC and Marvel can't have characters that share the name. I was thinking, "The hell? An adult woman playing an adolescent boy/adult superhero?"

DC Captain Marvel is that guy. Marvel has a character, Carol Danvers, called Ms. Marvel, and lately Captain Marvel.GORDON wrote:I thought I remember putting on a cape when I was 3 and playing "Captain Marvel." Was I imitating a chick? I don't remember it that way.

I think DC ended up having to change their Captain Marvel to Shazam.
On a side note, a friend made a version of Captain Marvel in the MMO City of Heroes that looked exactly like him except in pink instead of red. He put the most joyous smiling face on him and named him Captain Marvelous.

In 1939, Fawcett comics published a book featuring this Captain Marvel that was later purchased by DC and turned into Shazam (I have no knowledge of why the name change occurred.):

In 1967, Marvel created a guy named Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell or some shit) as well, and he's notable for a number of reasons. First, he's a Kree, which should get the attention of those watching SHIELD. Second, he's a cosmic hero, meaning he did a lot of stuff with the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Third, he's one of the first "major" characters that was killed off, and his cause of death was cancer. He looked like this:

I think she was also meant to be a counter for Wonder Woman, which The Avengers, Marvel's counter to the Justice League, were lacking. Anyway, Ms. Marvel is why you know about Rogue. Yes, that Rogue.

She's a Pakistani-American.
Anyway, that's what I know about Captain Marvel.

Yes, but he was called Captain Marvel at the time. But the show was called Shazam, I think. Character was officially renamed in 2011 per Wiki.GORDON wrote:Maybe I am thinking I was playing Shazam. Wasn't there a Saturday morning show about him?
The letters in "Shazam" give him abilities of different entities. "S" is the wisdom of Solomon, "H" is the strength of Hercules, etc. In case you were wondering where "Shazam" came from in all of this.

A bunch of stuff is missing that I put in there. I'll correct it later tonight. No time right now and golf this afternoon.
