Star Wars Aftermath - Book

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Connects the old movies to the new.

"Official" book that starts after Return of the Jedi.

SO, book books, not graphic novels? And this is now official canon? Why didn't they just make movies?

Because picking up immediately following the aftermath of the Imperial Empire getting toppled by a tribe of furries seems boring.

Yeah, there will probably be a lot of fast-forwarding and tell-don't-show in that book.

I think I'll wait and just read someone's summary.

And like I said, this becomes official canon, erasing the hundreds of other books that have addressed that period of time?

They were technically never in. They're glorified fanfic now.

The evil daemon god of the star wars universe packed up his shit and left and sold his job to someone else, bringing everyone out of a decades long carbonite slumber. The new gods sprinkled some money around and thawed them out.

That's not true. Lucas gave the Timothy Zahn trilogy "official canon" status, but apparently Disney has taken that away.

Too bad, they were the best.

I could swear he just gave certain people and groups permission to publish shit without him suing the everloving hell out of them.

Star Wars without Thrawn is an inferior product.

Wouldn't it be ironical if the Thrawn stuff is what Lucas pitched to Disney, that got turned down. He finally decides to do a good idea right before he sells out.

Agreed. It's the one thing I hope Disney brings into their new movies.

Went to grab this on Amazon for my next trip and read the reviews. Ouch.

Not sure if I want it now or not.

The reviews on Goodreads are not kind.

If this is how the canon is being handled now ... well, shit. My excitement about the new movie just immediately turned into Ep 1 style dread. Right at this moment in time I suddenly no longer want to see the movie in the theater, at least not until there are good reviews from people I trust.

Nah, that was aimed at the film, not this book.

I took it to mean the Disney treatment in general.

I have hope the film will be good.

THIS film.

I do not hold the same hope for future films.

The reason Marvel films have kicked ass is because they all filter through Kevin Feige. (Whose handcuffs have just been taken off.) I hope Disney learned from that and has one voice in the Star Wars universe, but it doesn't seem like it.

I hope it will be good. I, however, do not have any hope it will.
