Most of the Indian programmers I've met have been average. It's their willingness to work cheaper and longer that's making a difference.

I'm assuming since it's India a whole shitload of transactions, some monetary in nature, have taken place prior to this wedding. When the wedding's called off, some people try to recover their expenses. A few of the Indians at work have described their "courtships." We'd probably call them "negotiations between sets of parents."
