Gone Girl

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

If a movie is meant to provoke an emotional reaction this does so very well. This is one of those "must see" movies that everyone says is so good, and they're right. The acting and direction are top notch. Everyone brings their best. However, that didn't stop me from being pissed off at the stupidity of the final act.

This is a really odd film. It starts off as an intriguing murder mystery. Then suddenly switches gears and instead of a who dunnit, you're now watching an episode of Law & Order. Then again, completely out of nowhere it turns into Basic Instinct. All of which I was fine with, but then the ending happened, and I was pissed.

All that great writing thrown under the bus. They stuck with reality for almost the whole movie, and then, not. I hope the book was different. Even if the ending was the same, I hope they tied up the MASSIVE plot holes.

I really want to shred the plot publicly, but I can't without spoilers obviously and this is a movie that should be seen. Like I said, the performances are awesome. Rosamund Pike blows the fucking doors off with her performance. Affleck is solid, Neil Patrick Harris and Carrie Coon are awesome, and even Tyler Perry brings his A game and is likeable (I didn't even know he had an A game). Kim Dickens was great too.

Great movie until the end.
