Just wondered who we think hates the hottest. If you need to in order to take the poll, substitute, "harbors more resentment for" for hate.
My personal opinion is that it FEELS LIKE the left actively hates what the USA is (we drive too much, we eat too much, we worship too much, we produce too much carbon, we drive cars that are too big, we own bigger houses than what we need, we vote the wrong way, and on and on) and they hate themselves/ourselves and this gets projected onto people on the "other side of the aisle," and the right is just sort of baffled by that perspective and gets defensive about it.

Hottest Hatred
Troy wrote:They are both people. I mean dude, have you EVER read the comments on Foxnews.com?
Everyone sucks.
Half the time when I read the really crazy stuff, I think, "Looks like someone is poisoning the well, because nobody can be that crazy/dumb." You know.... really outrageous comments to make the other side look crazy/dumb. And I figure that happens in both directions, which means I don't think either side is as crazy as they seem, they are just dishonest and devious pretending to be something else. That's me being optimistic.
But there is no denying that the real liberal left thinks we drive too much, we eat too much, we worship too much, we produce too much carbon, we drive cars that are too big, we own bigger houses than what we need, we vote the wrong way, and on and on. There's a lot of self-loathing, as Americans. Not to mention how they think everyone else is racist and tea baggers are terrorists.
The worst I can think of for the far right is wanting to invoke Jesus every time someone acts nice or a kitten survives a flood or whatever, and their problem with gay marriage.

The left seem to have a more seething hatred of the right. The right has a more dismissive hatred of the left. It's two different flavors of hate, for sure. I think the left's hatred of the right is more focused and intense, overall.

"I have had the following experience more than once: I am speaking with a professional academic who is a liberal. The subject of the underrepresentation of conservatives in academia comes up. My interlocutor admits that this is indeed a reality, but says the reason why conservatives are underrepresented in academia is because they don't want to be there, or they're just not smart enough to cut it. I say: "That's interesting. For which other underrepresented groups do you think that's true?" An uncomfortable silence follows.

Most professors couldn't hack it out in the real world using their "expert" knowledge. Academics have some of the thickest, slowest, most inflexible and fragile minds on the planet.
Anyhow, if we're talking active vitriolic hate, I might give the edge to the left. It burns fast but burns out just as quickly. There are so many different sources of fuel, though, and so many separate fires. The right maintains more of a slow, steady, smouldering hate.
Both are equally evil, greedy, incompetent, and corrupt. Neither has any interest in freedom or my well being. They are interested in staying in power. Fuck them.
