After more hunting into the wee hours of the morning, Tas and I encountered some Insane Decision action. We were camping their territory when we were discovered by Agemo(sp?). He was scouting in a frigate. So, we waited to see who he brought back with him. We waited quite a while. Then Agemo showed back up and started warp jamming me. Tas was at a near by planet waiting to jump in. I was hitting Agemo pretty good and Tas was having trouble getting to me for some reason. So, I warped out when we saw that a friend of his showed up. We met up at a planet and hung out there. Agemo tracked us there and we hit him again I think. Then his friend showed up. His ship was nicer than mine. The frigate had to leave and I had the nice ship warp jammed. He was hitting me pretty good though. Tas showed up and started ECM jamming him. We had him trapped and we were eating away at his ship. I was really low on cap though from healing and defenses. I ran my cap the way I do when I pirate and know when to turn off the shield booster so my defenses stay up. I got low on cap and turned my booster off. Then Agemo showed back up. We put our drones on him as he was still hurting pretty bad. He hit me with a cap neutralizer or nos and it drained my cap. That turned off my warp jammer. I didn't notice it at first cause I was moving my drones over on to him. Looking back, I remeber seeing the red beam hitting me. Future encounters, hopefuly that registers as cap damage and I can react sooner. As it was, with no warp jammer running, the nicer ship got away. Then the frigate went out right behind him. They got away. . . Let me say that again. Two realitively newb players chased away two more experienced players in better ships and/or better equipment. Go us. Both sides went and healed up.
They are really good at tracking and quickly found us at the station we were sitting at. The frigate came first and we targeted him. He turned on a micro warp drive and flew out to 100km in no time. His bigger friend warped in at that range and started lobbing missles at me from 92km. So, we warped away to some random planet. We made a plan to warp to a gate and use an instant to hit a different one and get out of the system. They found us at the planet, and we warped to the gate. While Tas was warping us to the next one, Agemo and the better ship came swooping in. Then a blackbird did too. So, it's a 3 on 2. They were warp jamming the hell out of me and my TWO WCSs weren't enough to escape. I was a sitting duck and went down quick. I lined up on a station so I could quickly warp as a pod. I blow up and as soon as my mouse was able to click the menu to warp, I selected it. Split second later, I'm getting warp jammed. How the hell do people target so quick? Gotta find that out. . . Anyway, got podded.
So, they had to call in 3 people to take us cause two wasn't enough. . .
What I learned:
1. Red beam means they are killing your cap. React to that.
2. Watch local closer. Had we seen the third sooner, we would have done things slightly different.
3. We really need to do some training so that people can see how fast things go and what all you need to think about.
When I use to fight NPC pirates and think about how easy combat was. Just point, click, and wait for damage to build up. When you are fighting people, it's just not that way. They are obviously doing things to you that the pirates don't. They don't just fly at you till they die. You have to keep them in range for your stuff to affect them. You have to monitor all systems, from your health to your cap to you ammo levels. You have to make sure they are still targeted (did they jam you?). You have to watch local to make sure support isn't coming. You have to launch your drones and sick them on the correct target. And more, cause you never know what they are gonna throw at you.
We MUST do some sparring soon.
Latest adventure
Oh boy. I felt pretty good about the night. Ya, I died. They scored a kill. But, over all, I was VERY please with our performance. I made WAY fewer mistakes than I have in the past. Each encounter imporves. Saw new things happen and I'll be able to react better next time. So, over all, it wasn't that bad. Add to the fact that the 62 million in the bank after insurance more than covers ship costs, etc.
Then things got just really bad. I got this in the mail:
Was this REALLY an attempt to talk smack? Make me feel bad about the loss? To rub it in? or ANYthing like that? My heart sank. I just felt so bad for this person. It's just. . . Oh. . . It's just aweful.
So, I guess it's having the desired affect, however, for reasons not even CLOSE to what he had intended, I'm sure.
I still feel good about the encounter. Was VERY easy to go through because of all I had gained from it. I just HATE to see such a perfect example of ignorance.

I'm currently doing a daring escape in 0.0 to get out of danger zone, after T bought it, I'm stuck behind enemy lines, with a backdoor through 0.0 space my only option, I've been drinking all night, so this may not go so well.
.....
escape succesful, 0.0 is nuts without the instas i've come to love
Now, on to the important stuff,
1) It's luckily that Cake had WCS when I got stuck on a station the first time they shot at him...
2)The nice ship was a Cerberus, a HAC worth around 180m. We totally had it beaten in the first round, jammed, drained and scrambled. He was beyond lucky that Cake ran out of cap, or he woulda exploded. Agemo was the same way, after sicking my drones and my guns on him, he started turning to mush pretty quickly, and another 5 seconds would have destroyed the tackling ship.
3) I'm still not totally sure I made the right call warping us out when we made the last jump to the stargate to make the insta jump out. If I had been able to think it through, I would have jammed the Cerb, while we both focused fire on the Blackbird, while setting our drones off on the lil tackling frigate. I think we actually could have pulled it through, and if the cerb had gotten range on us again, we could have simply jumped through the gate.
But we are noobs, we do stuff like that!
