Ok, so HUGE mistake in game design.

Crytek designed this realistic as possible game world only to fark it up with a zero gravity alien ship at the ass end of the game.

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

The aliens on board that ship were tough to target, kill, and took a lot more ammo than humans to kill, and these were just "worker bees".

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Then they went ahead and encompassed the mountain/alien ship in a globe of cold and death where everything unprotected was killed or destroyed...

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

It then introduced the "squids" and "mini-squids". The minis took even more ammo to take down and could be hard to target.

The squids took even more ammo and dished out more than anyone's fair share of damage.

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Then, we got the giant squids that flew higher. These took boat loads of ammo. (Keeping in mind that without the alien mini-gun or the AA unit's gun, you're not bringing these things down.

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Then we get introduced to the giant crab/spider thing that you COULDN'T take down. Fun!

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Then the island and surrounding waters gets completely encompassed by the globe of cold and death.

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

You COULD take down the giant crab/spider, but only after the chick uses her l33t hacking skillz to take down its shields or whatever.

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

They hand you a mini-nuke, but it's nowhere near as cool as you think and only targets certain areas of the "end guy".

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Where the fark did they hide this alien warship? It's bigger than a fucking aircraft carrier. And why must I kill it like I killed giant tanks in Contra back in the early 90s? (Shoot turret #1, then turret #2, now the weak spot, etc.)

But that's not the end of the mistakes...

Then they told me that there would be a sequel as I was heading back into this cube of ice and death.

Add it all up and you have some designers who lost sight of the big picture.
Question #1: What am I going to be fighting in that globe of cold and death? I can only assume I'll be fighting the following aliens: worker bees, squids of various sizes, a giant crab/spider, and a massive alien assault ship. You've already established that no humans are still alive and let's be honest, at this point I doubt the North Koreans care about fighting me much anymore. Plus, you've established that only peeps wearing the suit can survive in there. (Do NOT try to put the entire North Korean army in these nanosuits for the sequel.)
Question #2: Where the fark am I going to get ammo? Everything in the globe of cold and death is frozen and broken.
Question #3: Where does the story go from here? The only place it can go is player versus aliens. Unfortunately for you, that's the only part of the game that everyone hated.

Crytek just made the aliens too big and too powerful out of the gate. They're going to have to find a way to back themselves out of the hole they dug. People don't want to fight aliens in zero G the whole game as evidenced by reviews and such. You naturally can't have them fighting an enemy that will make them run out of ammo almost immediately either. Ditto for giving them the one alien gun the whole game.

It'll be interesting to see if they even bother making a sequel. They could have just planned to give us 4-5 more hours of the story in an expansion pack or maybe they'll just source it out, ala Far Cry.
