Wife found this on clearance at Target for $10 and picked it up for me. I loaded it to give it a try. It's an FPRPG. It's my first one.

So far, I like the game. It's got an interesting story, so far, and the game is running pretty well. IGN reviews had MANY people complaining of bugs and stuff. I haven't found any. So far, I like the weapons, magic and other skills I've gotten. I like the controls and the aiming of the bow and stuff. It did have one 'jumping' puzzle so far, and I HATE those. But, I made it through it in under 10 lives. Loading screens take a bit, but no longer than HL2 loading screens. It plays very much like HL2 as well in that it's pretty linear and guides you along the correct path via locked doors and blocked paths. There are some short branch paths that lead to extra health or something, but not a whole lot.

I've only got a couple hours into the game, so there's plenty of time for disappointment. But if the game continues as it is so far, I will have enjoyed my time spent playing it. Especially for a $10 game. I'll post more after spending more time in it.

As far as FP in my RPG. In the context of this game, it's working well. There are times where I'm spinning rapidly trying to find what is hitting me, but not too many. For the most part, if you listen to the sound, you can tell where the enemies are coming from. In the linear, single player story that this is, FP is fine and allows for immersion and stuff. However, based on my initial impression of FPRPG, it does NOT belong in an MMORPG. MMO implies fast paced and stuff. The lack of spacial awareness would inhibit game play. In a WOW type game where PVP is very controled and whatnot, it could work as well because the danger level is controlable. But in a UO/EVE type setup, FP would make you very vulnerable.
