Moron who claimed to know how to get to the theatre was 20 fucking minutes late resulting in putting me in a horrible mood : -.5
Subtotal 1 : -.5 stars
Synopsis :
Angsty circus girl goes to sleep & wakes in a weird-ass dream world in dire peril. Naturally, a 15-year old girl is the perfect choice to save it.
Review :
As my buddy who couldn't find the theatre told me, "No one cares about good fantasy movies anymore." To which I replied, "That's probably because they aren't made anymore." & after seeing "Mirrormask," I've decided that they still aren't.
While the first bit of the film establishes character & atmosphere very well, you can pinpoint the scene in which (a) the writers started doing acid or (b) some fucker got cut-happy in the edit room because ALL continuity & logic goes out the window.
At about that point, you're just waiting for the goddamned film to end & have long since ceased to care about the plot, characters, or the crappily (& probably studio-ordered) tacked-on, tired ending.
Subtotal 2 : 2 stars
Subtotal 1 + subtotal 2 = 2.5 stars
Verdict : This is the definition of a renter.
