I would have been fine not seeing this one. I'm not in pain for having watched it, but, it's not a must see or even a should see. I didn't see the original, or read the book, but this version of the story left me thinking "ya, right". It had a couple laughable moments, but nothing THAT laughable. Slight tention here and there. Over all, not that impressed with it. Don't go out of your way to watch it, in my opinion.
The message behind this movie is that women are smarter, faster, and better at everything than men. Also, a real man is one who accepts that and supports his wife by being her bitch.
With that message, bad acting, paper thin characters, and a plotline that has more holes than Sonny Corleon, I can't imagine why it was such a box office bomb.

The message behind this movie is that women are smarter, faster, and better at everything than men.
If you watch the extras on the DVD, you'll see that the women were all made to be robotic with all kinds of cyberific implants (including a beer fridge in the chest and a lawnmoyer in the feet, for example) but that the details of all that were cut out of the movie. So I'd argue that the message could be taken as being that cybernetically enhanced people are smarter, faster, and better at everything than non-cybernetically enhanced people. It's just that they only enhanced the womenfolk.
P.S. It sucked.

My wife pointed out that during the film its explained that the women aren't killed, instead they just have chips put into their heads. This is further proven at the end.
