Jersey Girl

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

This movie got a bad rap because it has Affleck and J'Lo and came out right after Gigli. Plus, Smith got ripped by his fans for straying from his formula here like Adam Sandler did for Big Daddy.

Let me clear some things up:
1. J'Lo is in it for about 5 minutes.
2. This is normal Affleck, not the action star Affleck.
3. Kevin Smith made the film.
4. If you don't like Kevin Smith, its NOTHING like his other films.

Affleck plays a single father who has to leave his big life in NY behind to raise his kid in New Jersey. He has trouble adapting.

That's it. No complicated story. No Jason Mewes (Jay). No convienience store. No drug jokes.

This is an actual human story directed by Kevin. Of course, those of you who get Smith understand that all his movies have a lesson, but this one doesn't hide it between pop culture discussions.

Affleck is likeable here...really. Carlin is in his most serious role ever and does it very well. Liv is just hot and actually leaves you wanting to know more about her character. The star though is the little girl, she really steals the show.

Smith gets his trademark cameos in, but I won't ruin the "who".

This is easily Smith's most mainstream film, and ironically, the one he'll be least known for.

For Smith fans this is a must see, but I must recommend you see it with the understanding that this is a mature comedy. If you can't handle that, then I say: Grow the fuck up. Its his career and if he wants to try new things its his right to do so.

For everyone else, unless you absolutely hate happy endings, then you'll at least not be bored.

Special notice, ladies will love this movie as it portrays a cute child, a loving husband, sexual tension, and family values. Expect sex.

7 out of 10. (a few forced scenes and the presence of J'Lo...)

I ratehr liked Jersey Girl, myself.

Truth be told, I've liked all of his movies pretty much equally. Each is so very different from the others that it's hard to prioritize them. Apples/oranges yadda yadda.

You've saved me 90 otherwise wasted minutes at some point in the future, perhaps.

I was forced to watch it over the weekend. It didn't totally suck, but I'd rather have been watching something else on TV than that DVD.

I did miss the begining of the film because I was out riding ATVs with my future brother-in-law, so maybe I'd have cared for the film more if I got to see the J-Lo shtuff.

Nah, the first part of the movie was the part that wasn't all that great. It felt like "Let's just kill her off quick before the audience can remember Gigli".
