If Congress passes CISPA, it will only further prove that it has lost legitimacy and the consent of the people. This will increase the need to explore new forms of government.

I like this bit. We need more open talk of revolution against the federal government. Although technically anyone sending that to their Congressweevil is probably now legally an enemy of the state and will be under surveillance by Homeland Security.

I figure we're ALL already under surveillance.

Didn't a story break a year or two back about some technology that scans all email for key words?

Let's make a bot that opens free e-mail accounts and just sends terrorist-sounding messages among them at a high rate, using various key words.

It passed the house. I guess it did that before too?

Rep. Mike Rogers, a strong supportor of CISPA, will benefit personally from its passage.

I know, shocking.

Doesn't really matter. Worst case scenario after it passes is that Congress will finally learn that the internet can't be ruled by US legislation when the thing is pretty much ignored by everyone outside Washington DC.

So it seems rather interesting to note that Rogers' wife, Kristi Clemens Rogers, was, until recently, the president and CEO of Aegis LLC a "security" defense contractor company, whom she helped to secure a $10 billion (with a b) contract with the State Department. The company describes itself as "a leading private security company, provides government and corporate clients with a full spectrum of intelligence-led, culturally-sensitive security solutions to operational and development challenges around the world."

Someone explain how this dude supporting this bill is anything except a conflict of interests. What a fucking joke.

Of the two assholes that support the bill:
Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. and Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md.

The one already mentioned is essentially passing a bill to make sure his wife has work. The other dude only won after a district was gerrymandered specifically so he could win.

From here.
A few of the highlighted assholes who think CIPSA is a fine idea:
AT&T, Microsoft, Verizon, Oracle, Facebook, IBM, Symantec

I notice Google is absent, although the word on the street is that they're giving tacit support without declaring it publicly.
