By a patent troll.
Why are we allowing people/companies to file non-specific patents?
I get that people need to protect ideas prior to getting them developed, but should these patents have such a lack of description regarding the technology? I mean, using the example in the link can't it be describing podcasts, Hulu, Netflix, hell even updates to online games?
Stupid.
Podcasters getting threatened
It's because anyone can file a patent about anything. When a patent is filed all you have to show is that it doesn't conflict with prier patents. Beyond that they are accepted completely non-critically on the assumption that they will be ruled invalid in court one day if they are in fact invalid.
It's a stupid system designed to give patent lawyers as much job security as possible.
