Only digital TV available in 2009.
For some reason I always thought this only affected OTA people.
Today, cable television system operators receive broadcast feeds in analog and digital format. Come Feb. 18, 2009, broadcasters must stop supplying the analog signal. That creates a problem for the cable industry's 32 million analog subscribers.
It's not me, it's someone else.
I heard the FCC was going after major retailers recently because they were still selling analog TVs without putting notices by them indicating they'd be worthless in a year or so.
FYI: This was supposed to have happened back in 2004 or something like that. I went through all this stuff when I was in the TV biz and the time line has been moved once if not more.

Really the only answer is for the government to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to give peeps digital to analog converters, because television is a need, not a luxury.
Of course it's a need. As long as the populace is entertained and distracted, they will be less likely to pay attention to the bullshit going on in Washington.
